Want to provide update for new CVHS Principal? TONIGHT!

Talk about last minute!  I sure hope they have another meeting as surely its not acceptable to provide just a few hours notice of a meeting this important.  I think no matter how the charter situation works out, anyone associated with CVHS should take the time to attend tonight's meeting if you can.  If you can't, contact Julie Braun-Martin at braunmartinj@mdusd.k12.ca.us and let her know your thoughts.

There will be a parent meeting tonight, May 3 at 7:30 – 8:30 pm in the library at Clayton Valley High School with Julie Braun-Martin, the Assistant Superintendent, in order to give all parents the opportunity to provide input on the qualification they seek for the high school principal next year.

UPDATE: A second meeting is set up for Thurs, May 5, 6:30pm

  2. Didn't they do interviews yesterday? What is the input for if they have already started the decision making?

  3. They do not want your input. They want to placate you and make you feel falsely important by having these little public confabs. When's the last time anyone said "we're implementing this because Parent A suggested it", or "we're changing this policy because so many of you asked us to". Name one time.

  4. g, I do believe they want input and when you say interviews, it could be the first round of screening. Which would be reference checks, etc. I would suggest calling MDUSD Human Resources and asking what the process is for hiring a new Principal at a high school, or better yet attend one of these meetings and ask. Ask what who the community/parent representative is on the interview panel. It is usually made up of administrators from CVHS, parents, staff members and other MDUSD employees. I was on a panel for our local school as the parent rep and felt my opinion and thoughts were listened too. The Principal I felt was the best fit was hired. I do have to say that for the past 19 years I have felt listened too and maybe it is your approach? I don't know but attend the meetings and volunteer to be a part of the process.

  5. Ridiculous. They did the same thing when looking for the second new Principal at MDE - less than 24 hr notice to find 2 teachers and 2 parents to help interview... during summer, no less.

  6. Did you hear about the fiasco at Meadow Homes when they "got input" on the new principal. The parents gave the district administrators criticism. It was a fiasco.
