Is your favorite teacher gone?

Happy summer! It's July 11th, do you know where your teachers are? I am hearing reports from all over the district that schools are losing some teachers. I have heard of at least 4 teachers leaving from one (high scoring) elementary school. They've left for greener pastures in nearby districts. What about YOUR school? Do you know if you've lost any teachers yet during this summer? I'm going to try to find out how many resignations are taking place this summer. If anyone has these numbers, please feel free to elaborate. I just have a feeling some parents are going to be surprised when they return to their schools this August.

  1. In general this information is part of the full school board agenda. Usually is part of the consent agenda. If you look those up for the last few months of meetings you will get a good idea of who will not be there when school starts.

  3. Sandra, not if those teachers have made those decisions in just the last 3 weeks since a board meeting. Some teachers are making decisions over the summer that would not have been reflected in a previous consent agenda.

  4. Given the current district situation, we might ought to be concerned about the morale of the teachers that aren't leaving! They are our workforce and they aren't happy. What can we expect for our children?

  5. Just thought I would mention that the School Board will be meeting again soon. In the agenda under the Consent agenda there should be a list of teacher resignations, retirements, hiring. You maybe able to see the full agenda on-line at the MDUSD site before the meeting. Hope you only get good news for your children.
