Hopefully, Strange is in "character" and calls someone an enemy of the kids of MDUSD during his speech.
ReplyDeleteWho is paying for this shindig?
ReplyDelete@annon 8:19 pm. Who is paying ? Let's see. Its the "Board of Education" sending the invite, on official "letterhead" with the seal, being held at the District office "after hours", and presumably the District paid for any invites sent by mail. They can pay for parties, but can't pay for benefits.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand. This can not possibly be a budgeted for item right?
ReplyDeleteIf Paul and Dick had any honor at all they would stop the district from wasting money on this send off.
Geesh..some of you are getting your panties in a bunch. Let see for Dick who has given over 50 years of service to MDUSD and to Paul who has given 5 years you want to whine about this. How much could cake and cookies with beverages cost - a couple hundred dollars.
ReplyDeleteIf you would educate yourself, there is a board budget item, I would bet the money is coming from there.
So go have some cake and cookies, drink a cup of coffee and say goodbye to Dick Allen and Paul Strange.

ReplyDeleteThis district is a community. We should honor those who have served the community, especially at an almost volunteer level of compensation. This is not an extravagant country club affair. That would be inappropriate.
I am one of the first to complain if the Board does not do their job but part of what is lacking in this district is a sense of community and pride. I can name a million reasons why that is the case. I understand that teachers and staff don’t feel valued, parents don’t feel heard, etc… but service is service and a sincere thank you to Paul and Dick for their time and effort is only right.

ReplyDeleteSorry, I should have started with I agree...
Anon 2:28,
ReplyDeleteCan you confirm that it is only cake and cookies?
If not, then I would like to know specifically where the money is coming from.
The food and beverage for the event and all of the plates and cups are all being donated by various members of the District Staff. The event itself is taking place after hours at the Dent Center from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. This is a very understated event where employees and community members can come and thank Dick and Paul for their service to the students and families of the MDUSD.
ReplyDeleteGary,
ReplyDeleteWho is paying for the electricity and heat? Or does that come from your magic field of Solar panels.
And who pays for the extra custodial work required by contract ?
ReplyDeleteDid anyone get an advanced copy of Strange's speech?
ReplyDeleteI need to know if he is going to go off on people, if so I'm going to be there with a video camera.
Any reports from the event?
ReplyDeleteThe event was very nice. And the two women that helped to make some appetizers and cut the cake and decorate the tables in a very conservative and lovely fashion did a great job. They did it on their own time.
ReplyDeleteThe speeches were short and thoughtful.
Both Dick and Paul were gracious and humbled by the turnout and the kind words.
The reception was a place where people could come and say thank you and farewell. Dick and Paul deserved at least that much, if not more for the time and energy they have spent for years of service working on the Board.
